Lakeside Holiday Home Guide
Our 5 star lakeside holiday lodges in Loch Lomond are situated directly on the banks of the loch. There are 3 rows of chalet style lodges each with uninterrupted views of the loch. Each lodge has its own private hot tub from where you can enjoy the magnificent surroundings whilst sipping a glass of champagne. During the day keen fisherman will enjoy the exclusive resort fishing waters, excellent for salmon and trout. If you prefer something livelier, jet skis can be launched just 2 miles up the road.
The Lake – Loch Lomond is a freshwater lake and the largest stretch of water in Britain by surface area. The lake is dotted with islands, each one different from the other; one island even has its own colony of wallabies! The islands are easy to visit by hiring a boat or booking a guided tour at the resort.
Our wonderful lakeside cabins on the Portnellan Estate have two nearby lochs, Loch Dochart and Loch Lubhair. The lodges are situated on the lower slopes of Glen Dochart meaning most lodges have fabulous views of the mountains and the lochs. The resort provides Canadian canoes free of charge which guest can take out onto the loch and kayaking, sailing, jet skiing and speed boat tours can be arranged through the local water sports centre.
If you’re interested in wildlife, then there are lots of cruises you can book such as the sea safari which will take you to the best nature viewing spots. Fisherman have access to 5 miles of fishing waters free of charge and your fishing tackle can be borrowed from the visitor centre.
The Lakes – Loch Dochart is a small lake at the foot of Ben More and feeds into the famous Falls at Dochart, Loch Lubhair on the other hand is much larger and renowned for its great fishing waters.
Our 2 bedroom Millness Lodge is situated in Kendal in the Lake District. Although not technically ‘a lakeside holiday home’ we felt the beautiful surrounding area more than compensated where lakes are concerned! Guests staying in our Millness Lodge can visit the wonderful Lake Windermere or view the lake wildlife from underneath in the Lakes Aquarium. Needless to say, there are many other beautiful lakes to see and visit in the region.
The Lake – Lake Windermere is a beautiful Cumbrian lake flanked by mountain peaks and small villages. One of the most popular lakes in the area, it is renowned for its links with children’s novelist Beautrix Potter.
