The beautiful Hawkswood Country Estate is based in the gorgeous Scottish hamlet of Peat Inn. With two large, luxurious country homes available to stay in, the estate is the perfect destination for bigger groups looking for an idyllic getaway amid Scotland’s glorious countryside. It’s particularly ideal for eager golfers, with the seaside town of St. Andrews, known as the ‘Home of Golf’, just a 15-minute drive away.

The accommodation comes equipped with everything you need for a truly indulgent self-catering holiday, with well-equipped kitchens and plenty of open spaces for socialising. The outdoor areas are also superb, with patio and BBQ areas, relaxing hot tubs, and splendid golfing facilities offering fantastic opportunies to perfect your game. Each property on the estate can host up to 10 guests in 5 magnificent bedrooms, with the opportunity for particularly large groups to reserve both houses for exclusive use. This is the ideal place for keen golfers to hone their skills. Each house comes with its own short-game area, and guests also have access to the estate’s private 270-yard driving range.

Isle of May National Nature Reserve

A mere boat ride from Anstruther, you’ll find the Isle of May National Nature Reserve, a spectacular island at the mouth of the Firth of Forth that hosts a variety of amazing wildlife, including puffins, seals and guillemots. You can also learn all about the rich history of this fascinating island.

Scottish Clay Shooting Centre

Get in a little target practice at the Scottish Clay Shooting Centre. Whether you’re a total beginner or an old pro, there’ll be something for you to learn from the highly trained instructors here. A range of different guns and target layouts means you’re guaranteed a great day’s shooting.

Eden Mill St Andrews

Don’t miss out on a trip to this single-site brewery and distillery, which makes the first single malt whisky that’s been produced in St. Andrews for 160 years, as well as a range of tempting beers and gins. Take the tour, learn how it’s all made, and have a taste of some delicious favourites.

St Andrews Cathedral

Step into history with a visit to the ruins of Scotland’s largest medieval church, dating back to the 12th century. Visit the museum too, where you can see a range of historical relics found on the site, as well as getting the chance to climb St Rule’s tower – the views from the top are magnificent.

There’s plenty of places nearby to eat. The Grange at St Andrews is a particular standout, with a welcoming atmosphere and a range of delicious meals on offer. The Vine Leaf Restaurant is also a brilliant choice, and the Tavern at Strathkinness offers amazing food in a traditional setting.

For Attractions

The Museum of the University of St Andrews is well worth a visit, offering hands-on activities and exhibits from the university’s vast collection. There’s also the Hill of Tarvit Mansion, a historic Edwardian house and garden – try a round of golf as it would have been played 100 years ago!

The main appeal of the area is of course the range of incredible golf courses available – St Andrews Links is the classic choice, but that’s not all there is on offer. Kingsbarns Golf Links, further down the coast, is not to be missed, and St Andrews itself boasts a variety of other courses.
