About the Resort

This secluded resort is located in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in a wooded valley which runs all the way down to the lovely Wembury Beach. It's ideal for nature lovers or just anyone who wants a break from the hustle or bustle of modern life, whether you'd prefer an active outdoor holiday or just need somewhere to relax. You can easily explore the countryside and coast along a range of great walking routes, including access to the South West Coast Path, Britain's longest National Trail. Or you can simply unwind in the resort's tranquil forest setting, admiring the gorgeous views and the rich variety of local wildlife.

There's a wide range of lodges and cabins to choose from at Churchwood Valley, all of which are designed to fit in with their natural surroundings without sacrificing cosiness or convenience. Timber construction inside and out provides a rustic feeling, with many of the cabins built using wood from the local forest. Of course, you'll also find all the modern appliances you'd expect for a self-catering holiday, as well as comfortable furnishings and a relaxing atmosphere. Outside you'll have your own secluded patio area perfect for barbecuing, watching animals or just immersing yourself in the scenic surroundings. Each cabin also comes with its own parking space.

Churchwood Valley is dedicated to maintaining its natural environment, with rustic wood cabins and lodges set amid beautiful woodland. The valley boasts abundant wildlife, and you'll see a range of birds and mammals.

Dog Friendly

This is a great place for a holiday with the family pet. Well-behaved dogs are welcome for a small fee, and there's countless walking routes nearby, along the coast and through pristine woodland and countryside.

Pick up all your daily essentials without having to leave the resort with a visit to the on-site shop. There's also an information room where you can find out about the local area and access the internet.

Laundrette

There's no need to worry about muddy trousers or stained shirts while you're staying here - a laundrette is available for washing and drying your clothes, and larger cabins come complete with their own washing machines.

Near the City

Despite Churchwood Valley's secluded location, it's just a 20-minute drive to the centre of Plymouth, Devon's largest city. Take a day trip for shopping, activities or attractions, with a rural retreat to return to in the evening.

Things to Try

Eden Project

See amazing plants from around the world at the Eden Project, where two vast domed "biomes", constructed in a reclaimed china clay pit, host a variety of tropical and Mediterranean vegetation. Explore these incredible greenhouses and the outdoor botanical garden and witness our world's fascinating diversity of plant life.

Wembury

The nearby village of Wembury is well-known for the rich variety of marine life along its coastline. Visit the Wembury Marine Centre to learn about the seabirds, fish, crabs and other creatures that call the area home, then explore the cliffs, beach and rockpools and see what you can spot.

National Marine Aquarium

If you'd like to discover more about life beneath the waves, the UK's biggest aquarium is just a 20-minute drive away. Plymouth's National Marine Aquarium showcases a variety of fascinating sea animals from around the world and close to home, with sharks, jellyfish, octopuses and more on display.

Saltram

The early Georgian house of Saltram has more to offer than you might expect. Tour an incredible mansion full of treasures, take a peaceful stroll through the beautiful gardens and parkland, and refresh yourself in the tea room. Plus, the busy event schedule means there's always something going on here.

The city of Plymouth is just a few miles away, with all kinds of things to see and do. Take in a show at the Barbican Theatre, tour the Plymouth Gin Distillery, or head to the lively seafront locale of the Barbican with its cobbled streets and traditional buildings.

Churchwood Valley's location near the coast makes it a great home base for aquatic activities like swimming, surfing and fishing. And if you love horse riding or would simply like to try your hand at it, Wembury Bay Riding School is less than a mile from the resort.
