Michael Paul Holidays believes in staying ahead of the curve which is why we’ve identified 5 holiday essentials you never knew you needed!

No 1. The Beach Vault

A montage of the Beach Vault in use

Modern life involves lots of updating your Facebook status, tweeting and posting perfectly posed Instagram snaps. Holidays are widely acknowledged as a prime opportunity to show off your fab tan and glamorous location. However, the problem with documenting your life with expensive gadgetry is that keeping your valuables safe on holiday becomes a bit of a task in itself.

You must be on guard at all times to make sure your iPhone, your kindle and your tablet are all present and correct, which isn’t exactly conducive to snoozing on the beach or frolicking in the waves.

Therefore life hack no. 1 is the beach vault. I know this may look like a giant drill but ironically that’s sometimes the form that peace of mind takes. Pack all of your valuables into the vault, screw into the sand and simply lie on top ensuring that any would be robber has to go through you first.

No. 2 The Waterproof Playing Cards

Waterproof playing cards

Waterproof cards are a sure fire winner for those with small children. Instead of the usual mush of cardboard which will slowly disintegrate into one solid brick, these plastic cards will keep them occupied all holiday.

More importantly however, the adults’ only poker game will not be ruined by THAT person who’s spilt the Sauvignon Blanc.

No.3 The Phrase Book or Translation App

As a nation, we are spoiled. Everywhere we go there is always one English speaker loitering and if not, a game of charades is always fun. However, a word to the wise, as well versed as you are in Morse code it’s always best to make the effort. The locals will appreciate your well-meaning attempts and if not, at least your companions will get a good laugh. On a serious note however, accidents do happen and words like ‘hospital’ and ‘ambulance’ can be absolutely vital in emergency situations.

No. 4 The Waterproof Phone Case

Fortunately for true phone addicts the waterproof phone case means you needn’t leave your phone behind just because you decided to go for a swim. You can now scuba the depths whilst posting a selfie, what more could you want!?

No5. The Sunscreen Pill

Sunscreen pillsWell technically this hasn’t been invented yet but it couldn’t be left off the list. Scientists are currently investigating certain types of coral which has the ability to deflect UV rays meaning if all goes to plan you needn’t lather up like a greasy eel before heading out.

If this isn’t a future holiday essential I don’t know what is!
