This gorgeous cottage in Cley-next-the-Sea, situated on the North Norfolk coast around 4 miles from the market town of Holt, makes for a perfectly peaceful escape by the coast for up to 6 guests, ideal for anyone seeking a seaside holiday.
Hambledon is said to be one of the oldest houses in its home village of Cley-next-the-Sea, and it certainly looks the part, with its pretty flint-walled garden out front and climbing roses framing its windows.
Once inside the front door, you will be charmed by the delightfully cosy rooms that are brim full of character with fireplaces, beams, Pamment flooring, the odd curved wall, a sloping floor or two, latch doors and pretty floral wallpapers. Thankfully the staircases are straight (there are two staircases and one is steepish), the furniture very comfortable, the antique style beds have mattresses that will guarantee you a good nights rest; and the small, but perfectly formed kitchen is very well-equipped. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms (one has a fabulous Fired Earth slipper bath), a spacious sitting room with dining area as well as a snug/study, this lovely cottage will appeal to families, friends, birders and walkers - in fact anyone who would like to spend some time in this pretty coastal village.
Cley-next-the-Sea is a popular holiday destination, and bustles with visitors almost all year round. There's an excellent delicatessen and local smokehouse just around the corner, as well as a restored windmill for fine dining. Pubs, cafes and galleries all within easy walking distance.
You can pick up the North Norfolk coastal path from the village, take a stroll to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust's oldest and best known nature reserve and its Visitor Centre, or catch the Coasthopper bus service and take a ride to the other lovely villages along the coast. The beautiful Georgian market town of Holt - only three miles inland - is a popular shopping destination, and well worth a visit.
There are beautiful walks along the beach and through the salt marshes and excellent birdwatching.

A really cosy, comfortable room a large wood burning stove and windows overlooking the front garden. At the dining end there is an oak table seating six and a second brick fireplace (unused).
A compact but well equipped kitchen with electric oven, induction hob and extractor fan, microwave, fridge with icebox and washing machine. A barn door leads into the walled courtyard and a half glazed side entrance door leads into a public cobbled pathway (Loke).
With tiled shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.
A pretty room with windows overlooking the garden and village road, with small desk, armchair and understairs cupboard housing small fridge/freezer.
A charming room with full-size single twin antique style brass and metal bedsteads.

With a fabulous Fired Earth slipper bath with hand-held shower attachment, wash basin, freestanding towel rail, separate closet with WC. There is a wardrobe for the master bedroom and a cupboard which stores an extending stairgate and travel cot.
There is a flint walled cottage garden to the front of the house, and a small high walled courtyard outside the kitchen, with garden furniture and barbecue.
No parking immediately outside the cottage, however roadside parking is available nearby both in the village and at The Fairstead, which is at the top of a short Loke (cobbled pathway), accessed via the side entrance door.
Two well behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge).

Norfolk is dotted with many delightful market towns which are well worth a visit, many situated along the coast and all with their own unique charm. Any one of them is worth exploring and discovering for yourself, but particular favourites include Burnham Market with its boutique clothing shops, and Aylsham, which offers a rich heritage and a peaceful pace of living.
