Brancaster (near Hunstanton), Norfolk
This superb brick and flint cottage sleeps up to 6 people and provides charming and comfortable holiday accommodation in the popular village of Brancaster, on the North Norfolk coast around 7 miles from the town of Hunstanton.
Converted from a building which originally served as the stables of St Mary's Church and the rectory, Grooms Cottage is a beautiful brick and flint holiday home which makes for amazing holiday accommodation for 6 guests. With all the bedrooms on the ground floor, this fabulous cottage is practical too. Peacefully situated in a private location, well away from the main coast road, but within a ten minute walk to the beach and only 5 minutes' walk to the renowned Ship hotel/pub/restaurant. Grooms cottage also has lovely fully-enclosed cottage gardens, so perfect for dogs and children and there is garden furniture to relax and enjoy long sunny days and al fresco dining.
Grooms Cottage is a delight and has been sensitively refurbished over time to now offer ‘upside down’ living accommodation. Upstairs you'll discover the spacious open-plan living space with an open fire and a very well-equipped kitchen with range oven.
The owners of Grooms Cottage are supporters of the RSPB and donate a percentage of each rental to the charity, so make sure you visit the RSPB reserves at nearby Titchwell or Snettisham, where you can explore the reserve and appreciate the fabulous bird and wildlife that frequent the area. With Brancaster Staithe in walking distance you can walk the coast path to buy fresh fish from the harbour where the boats land their catch.
If you are a larger group of 12, then consider booking Betty's Cottage too, which also has a fully-enclosed cottage garden, so perfect for dogs and children. The cottages sit just 40ft away from one another, some plenty of privacy yet close enough to enjoy quality time together.
For days out, head to Burnham Market with its boutiques, galleries and eateries or go slightly further afield and pay a visit to Wells-next-the-Sea where you can shop in bustling Staithe Street, head to the beach or crab from the quay. Holkham Hall with its stunning beach, Houghton Hall and HM The Queen's Sandringham private residence are not far away too.
Brancaster seals bask on the creek edges and children can safely paddle in the tidal lagoons. The tide goes out a long way revealing the shipwreck of the SS Vina (beware of strong tides and do not venture out!) The sand is perfect for sandcastles and picnics. Kite surfers provide exciting entertainment on windy days.
Parking is a few yards from the beach and anyone who walks that little bit further will be rewarded with their own private stretch of sand!
