Greengage, Gunthorpe, nr Fakenham, Norfolk
Gunthorpe (near Fakenham), Norfolk
This lovely, dog-friendly period cottage has been sympathetically restored to provide a beautiful little escape in the pleasant Norfolk village of Gunthorpe, a 15-minute drive from the North Norfolk coast and around 8 miles from the market town of Fakenham.
Greengage is a charming little period cottage which sleeps up to four guests, providing accommodation with a traditional ambience that makes for an ideal escape in the Norfolk countryside. It's situated in the pretty village of Gunthorpe, which is just a 15-minute drive from the North Norfolk coast.
The owners have put a lot of thought into the restoration and the result is a charming, cosy cottage with the special addition of a vintage ‘secret’ potting shed for romantic suppers in front of the roaring fire. The accommodation is stylish with luxury linens, towels and hand soaps. There will also be a welcome pack awaiting your arrival.
Many of the original features such as old latch doors and cupboards are retained. The gardens are a real feature of the house, planted in a traditional cottage style, and the original potting shed has been transformed into a very special dining area. (Please note there is a right of way to the adjoining cottage over the rear courtyard.) The cottage is next door to Quince Cottage, and both cottages could be booked together and the wonderful Potting Shed used as a communal dining room or for a special anniversary/supper.
The North Norfolk coast is about a 15 minute drive and the Georgian market town of Holt a 10 minute drive. A perfect base for a romantic escape.
The village of Gunthorpe is situated in a shallow valley on the eastern side of the A148 King’s Lynn to Cromer road.

This is a very historical village with many interesting buildings including Gunthorpe Hall, designed by Sir John Soane, who was the architect of The Bank of England building in Threadneedle Street.
