Looking for a romantic break in idyllic surroundings? You need look no further than the welcoming Ayres End Studio. This gorgeous holiday property is situated in one of Suffolk's prettiest and quaintest villages and makes the perfect destination for a couple looking for a peaceful getaway,
The studio at Ayres End, once the inspiration-giving work place of author, Hammond Innes, is a thatched building set within the charming, landscaped gardens of Ayres End House. The garden, originally designed in the 1920's, is beautifully planned and maintained, which gives this stylish studio its completely unique and idyllic setting.
Guests are welcome to use the area of the owner’s garden in front of Ayres End Studio as well as having exclusive access to the medieval-style summer house – the perfect spot for morning coffee before a day's exploration.
Stepping outside the oasis of calm at Ayres End, Kersey is a picturesque village with a number of fine medieval buildings and the Church looking down on the village. The local pub, The Bell Inn is a short walk from the Studio and offers home cooked food in a traditional pub setting.
There are a number of circular walks from the village taking in the rolling Suffolk countryside and exploring the immediate area further. Just outside Kersey, the Mill has a number of different businesses including a spa, clothes boutiques and craft shops along with a tea shop for a restorative drink following your exploration of the area.
Beyond Kersey, there are a number of interesting towns to explore that have their origins in the medieval wool trade. Long Melford and Lavenham both have fine examples of properties dating back to Tudor times displaying the wealth of the wool trade.
The region is also associated with the world famous painters Gainsborough, Constable and Munnings who found inspiration in the surrounding Suffolk countryside. Flatford Mill, Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury and The Munnings Art Museum at Dedham are all worth taking the time to explore.
All this exploring may leave you with a healthy appetite. The Crown Inns in Bildeston and Stoke by Nayland both serve excellent food with local seasonal produce at the heart of what they offer.
Having had a busy day exploring you can return to the luxurious surroundings of Ayres End Studio to relax in the peace and quiet.
