Tewitfield Marina is situated along the Lancaster Canal, in a convenient location in Lancashire near the border with Cumbria, not far from the village of Carnforth. Local Lakeland towns

Close to Tewitfield Marina you’ll find the historic town of Carnforth, whose railway station appears in the 1945 film Brief Encounter. Also close by is the beautiful historic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale.

City of Lancaster

Lancaster, the county town of Lancashire, is 15 minutes by car from Tewitfield Marina, and is well worth visiting, with a medieval castle, a historic cathedral and priory, and all the city amenities you’d expect.

Lake District

Tewitfield Marina is an ideal home base from which to discover the spectacular landscapes and magnificent waters of the Lake District National Park, with 16 lakes to visit as well as Scafell Pike, England’s tallest mountain, and a variety of incredible landmarks, attractions, and villages to stop off at along the way.

Yorkshire Dales

The Yorkshire Dales National Park covers thousands of square miles’ worth of rugged, unspoilt beauty, with mysterious moors, scenic hills and valleys, and countless charming villages dotted throughout. This romantic destination is rich with fascinating history and wild nature, ideal for walking, cycling, and exploring.

Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Beyond the two nearby national parks, there are a number of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty close at hand. You’re just half a mile from the Arnside and Silverdale AONB, famed for its wildlife and with multiple nature reserves, and it’s also just a ten-minute drive to the gorgeous Forest of Bowland.

Sizergh Castle

Step into history with a visit to Sizergh Castle and Garden, with a Grade I listed stately home home partially dating back to the fourteenth or fifteenth century, as well as a beautiful garden, all set within 1,600 acres of grounds which include a limestone pasture, orchards, and gorgeous woodland.

The New Inn Restaurant in Yealand is a five-minute drive away and offers delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere within a Grade II listed building. The village of Bolton-le-Sands, just past Carnforth, also has a range of eateries, including Miaitalia, the Far Pavilion curry house, and Archers at Red Bank Farm.

The cathedral city of Lancaster, Lancashire’s county town, is perfect for a day trip from Tewitfield Marina. Pay a visit to the medieval hilltop Lancaster Castle, the Cathedral Church of St Peter, Lancaster Priory, and other historic sites – or spend a day exploring the city’s more modern offerings.
