Out and About
Padstow
Lying just seven miles from the 5 Star Self Catering resort of Retallack is the town of Padstow. Padstow is famous for being a 15th century fishing port crammed with pastel and stone cottages, where narrow, cobbled streets lead down to a beautiful harbour. Padstow is dominated by a picturesque harbour which is full of many boats, shops, pubs and restaurants. If you walk around this traditional British seaside town during the course of the year, you will come across many events and festivals that support the local town , its heritage and it’s local businesses. In the summer months of June through to August, Padstow comes alive with an array of festivals and celebrations including the Oyster Festival, the Padstow Carnival and the famous Newlyn Fish Festival. This Cornish festival celebrates the delights of the sea, fishing and seafood, where you will be able to sample the delicious tastes of the sea from some of the very best chefs the South West has to offer. Also there will be an appearance from the famous TV chef Rick Stein who will open the event and sign books. This whole event will be supported by local bands and performers who will entertain the crowds from two stages.
A few miles along the coast is the busy village of St Merryn with its seven spectacular bays and surfing beaches. Inland, and amongst beautiful countryside, are pretty rural villages, which include Little Petherick and St Issey, both near the Camel Valley.
Wadebridge to Padstow and The Camel Trail
The Camel Trail is an 11 mile disused railway line that runs from Padstow to Bodmin. The highlight of the trail is from Wadebridge to Padstow which is a 6 Mile, traffic free cycleway which passes through some of the most spectacular countryside in the south west. Following a disused railway line, the cycle track runs alongside the estuary from Wadebridge to Padstow. You can rent bikes from Bridge Bike Hire or Camel trail Bikes and enjoy the fresh sea air during your family holiday in Cornwall.
The landscape and scenery are striking and access to country and seaside towns offers ample opportunity to use local shops, pubs and visit attractions.

Newquay Golf Club - Tower Road, Newquay, TR7 1LT - 01637 874354

Each hole is unique and offers a great challenge. Not only do you have to cope with the undulating fairways and greens, but also you have to contend with the sometimes strong off sea winds that can quite easily blow your ball off course with ease. But if you can fight the challenge and control your shots, you will gain great reward.
The price for 18 holes on this par 69 course during Monday – Friday is £33. To play Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays the price is £38.
