Gallery Cottage, Wighton, nr Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk
Wighton (near Wells-next-the-Sea), Norfolk
Gallery Cottage is superbly situated in peaceful Wighton village in Norfolk, less than 4 miles from the bustling harbour town of Wells-next-the-Sea. This attractive brick and flint cottage sleeps four guests and is ideal for anyone seeking a holiday spent savouring the county's superb countryside and coast.
Situated in the tranquil village of Wighton, Gallery Cottage is a traditional property which has seen extensive refurbishment to ensure comfortable and convenient holiday accommodation with a modern feel to it. With commanding views of countryside vistas and easy access to the county's scenic coast, it's a perfect place for a break in Norfolk.
Gallery Cottage is the annexe of the original village School House which became the home of the sculptor Henry Moore in the 1920's and later the renowned American painter, Alfred Cohen and his family. In 1983 The School House Art Gallery opened, which has gained a well-respected reputation for showing contemporary art of the highest quality.
The adjoining annexe was totally renovated in Spring 2018 and now stands proud in its own right as a very comfortable and stylish holiday cottage with two en-suite bedrooms (double and twin), and an airy open-plan living space, with exposed original brick and flint wall, overlooking the garden and fields beyond.
With an en suite bedroom on each floor, Gallery Cottage will appeal to couples, singles and friends who enjoy their privacy and independence. It's an ideal spot for walkers, bird watchers, and indeed artists and art lovers - though they might find the temptation of an art gallery next door a bit too hard to resist! Gallery Cottage is suitable for a small family with older children - only children over the age of six years are allowed.
Wighton is a quiet village with easy access to the coast, the nearest resort being Wells-next-the Sea, just two miles away, with its bustling Quay, beautiful beach and independent shops and cafes.
Wighton has the feel of a proper village in a land of hamlets along secret lanes, and is surrounded by open farmland. Peaceful and pretty, the village is predominantly made up of brick and flint cottages and located midway between Little Walsingham and the popular coastal resort of Wells-next-the-Sea.
The village pub, The Carpenters Arms, is a popular destination for both locals and visitors and serves great locally sourced food, some of the best pizzas around, and a selection of real ales ‘on tap'.
