Castlemartyr Luxury Lodges, Ireland


Thirty minutes from Cork International Airport lies the 5 star Castlemartyr Resort which, though opened in August 2007, has a history going back many generations. It was under the stewardship of the first Earl of Cork in the 17th Century that construction of the manor house occurred.

 

Now restored it its original grandeur, it is the centrepiece of the resort. Aside from the unusual and pleasing, gently undulating topography of its 18 hole championship inland links golf course specially designed by Ron Kirby, the estate offers a wealth of activities from Hawk Walks where you can learn to handle and fly a Harris Hawk to carriage tours in a pony and trap and fly casting tuition. You can even take the estate’s Irish setters, Countess and Earl, for a walk in the grounds. Castlemartyr’s excellent spa deserves a special mention.

 

It has no less than 9 treatment rooms, a fitness centre, pool, sauna and steam rooms and a nail salon. As well as being able to book a personal trainer to help you get into shape, you can also attend classes in all sorts of disciplines from fitness to meditation and yoga. There are two restaurants for guests’ use - The Garden Room, which serves a la carte and the Tower Bell Restaurant.

And when you feel like a change of scene, Castlemartyr is within easy driving distance of Waterford, Limerick and Dungarvan.

    The Villas are located within the sancutary of the historic walled gardens of the Castlemartyr Estate, set in mature landscape with views of the golf course and the parkland which is plentiful. Each residence has been decorated and furnished to the highest standards and specification, all bathed in daylight. Each entrance hall includes storage for Golf Clubs, coothes and shoes, as well as a separate cloakroom with WC and wash-hand basin. All floors are wooden with the exceptions of the kitchen and bathrooms which are tiled. The inner door leads into the bright and spacious open-plan living, dining and kitchen area.
